Position Details
We are looking for an escrow analyst to join our accounting team based in New York. The individual will be part of the Controllership team and will report to the senior escrow analyst and coordinate with various teams across the organization. The primary focus of the position will be to administer the day-to-day aspects of escrow accounts including incoming and outgoing funds, investigating account discrepancies, and managing the related customer service aspects. Additional responsibilities include coordinating with the accounting team regarding fund transfers and preparation of ad-hoc reports. The individual will also partner with the accounting team to ensure consistent application of policies and procedures and continuous improvement projects are achieved.
Key Accountabilities
• Responsible for the daily maintenance of escrow activities, including funds management (incoming and outgoing), resolution of account discrepancies as well as account reconciliations
• Provide excellent customer service by proactively managing issue resolution and account discrepancies by collaborating with the accounting team, the agent finance team as well as customers and agents
• Maintain daily reconciliation of funds received in escrow (for closed real estate transactions)
• Maintain daily bank reconciliations as well as escrow account reconciliations
• Collaborate with the accounting team on the account reconciliations as well as the monthly analytics
• Create and distribute accurate internal reports
• Assist with maintaining a system of policies and procedures that impose an adequate level of control over escrow activities
• Ensure proper controls are operating effectively and collaborate with the accounting team on improvements
• Drive process improvement and re-engineer escrow procedures toward a standard solution across markets
• Support with the annual financial audit and compliance audit requirements
• Perform special projects as assigned
Job Requirements & Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Business, Management, or other related fields.
Previous Experience
• 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience
• Knowledge of real estate, a plus
• Experience working across multiple teams
Certifications
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a plus
